Opening 4 February
Campaigning for Accessible Public Transport
Artist Michelle Baharier presents Filling in the Gaps at SHARP Gallery, London, from 4 February 31 March 2025 as part of an ongoing national programme of portrait commissions for The London Transport Museum.
Supported by Arts Council England, Filling the Gaps brings portraiture, activism, and participation into dialogue. Baharier’s practice centres lived experience and conversation, offering a counterpoint to institutional narratives around accessibility by foregrounding the individuals behind long-term change.
The SHARP Gallery presentation marks the second event in this national series, following its initial participatory multi-day event at Turf Projects, Croydon, and will be followed by a solo exhibition at Marylebone Parish Church in Central London, continuing the project’s engagement with diverse public and civic spaces in March 2026.
The gallery’s ethos positions it as a safe, art-focused, and enabling space, committed to breaking the mould, being brave, and connecting people through shared creative experience. The gallery is open to anyone who feels art can support their mental health, making it a particularly resonant context for Baharier’s work.
Located in Blue Star House on Stockwell Road, SHARP Gallery was founded in 2011 as part of a social inclusion initiative within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
*The exhibition is presented within a hospital gallery setting and is open to the public by advance booking. A private view will mark the opening.
