Medusa
As someone who comes from a culture where traditionally married women are also expected to shave or hide their hair I can't help but wonder why everyone finds women's hair so threatening. I've been exploring the topic in my two paintings of Medusa, the beautiful Greek maiden turned to monster for being abused by a male God. The paintings are inspired by the strong women of Iran and Afghanistan, risking their lives in the name of our rights, women's rights...
This is the first painting - Medusa One.
